Jan Cooper’s Rottweiler was barking in her Anaheim at 1:30 am on June 9th.  Grabbing a .357 magnum revolver she saw a man on her porch trying to get in.  She dialed 911 for help.

While she was on the phone she shouted “Back up” at the burglar.  Even with the barking Rottweiler, he didn’t listen, and that was his big mistake.  She fired her handgun through her sliding glass door.  She said to the 911 operator “You’d better get the police here. I don’t know whether I hit him or not. I’m not sure. He’s standing at my door, my back door. He’s in my yard.”

Jim Amormino spokesman for Orange County Sheriff’s Department commented to a reporter “Even though that dog was barking, he still was desperate to get in. So who knows what may have happened if she didn’t fire that round.”

A Good Granny with a gun saved herself and her WWII veteran husband, who is in a wheelchair, from injury or death.  She said “I am a Christian woman and I’m very proud of it and I don’t curse, but after I shot, rage took hold and I just blasted away. And, in fact, afterwards my husband said, ‘I’ve never heard you talk like that!’”

Brandon Alexander Perez, was lucky he was not hit. He did apologize to her: “I’m sorry, ma’am. I’m leaving. Please don’t shoot.”  Once he was hauled down to the police station he was charged with burglary.

Granny has had firearms since she was young and spent years of rang time practicing with her husband.  Bob Cooper is one lucky man!
